Below is the Arch at Castlecove in Ireland where half of my family was originally from. This is the Kennel Name I Chose when I began showing dogs in 1971.
Remembering back my first love was The Afghan Hound. Their Elegance and Regal Aire is why I love the Powder Puff Cresteds, The first Afghan I Saw was the dog owned by the cartoon show host "Skipper Frank" and his Cartoon Carosel. He had a Afghan that made regular appearances on the show as he was so loving to the kids that hung off him while he absorbed all that love. I was hooked and from that point I had a eye out for anything Afghan.
Next came seeing Afghans and my first Dog Show exposure was my History Teacher in Jr. High School. He owned Ch. Lippizans Big Red Machine and that is what got me hooked on Dog Shows. Soon after I received my first Black & Tan Afghan Bitch from Mike Walsh & Irve McQuery of Shenn Kennels. Her name was Shenn's Celeste Diana and although she was sound and had great conformation and coat, she had the old world Crown Crest Headstudy- A Dog that could truly bring down a Snow Leopard. She allowed me to learn to show and I was Hooked. I later bought a Pastel Blue Cream Brindle male named Kabiks Raoul Snookeroo from Ch. Cadburryhills A Clock Work Blue x Kabiks Lilac Miss Print from Ch. Coastwinds Blueprint "Printer" from Granduer Lines. Showing was even more fun and soon he became a daddy to a Whopping 12 Puppies of every Color Imaginable. Geeeeeese!!!!!! I had my hands full training the dozen puppies and you wouldnt believe the call to the dinner bowls was like a stampeed as I had built 12 wooden cuibicals so each had a place to eat without any squabbles or Food Bandits. They were so much fun at the matches and shows and homes came easily where some were shown and others went with Junior Handlers.
As the years passed I then received my first Saluki on my Birthday from friends Beverly Hatada and Wayne Whorley of "Pavan" They were friends with Mike and Irve who also had several Srinagar and Jen Araby Salukis. Beverly had the Leopard Party Diva Daughter, Shrinagar Balaka of the Dunnes who she bred to Am.Mex.Can. Ch. Jen Araby Arusa Naksatra- "Naksi" a deep Mahogany Red. Holy Cow! 12 Puppies!!! and I had to deliver them while Beverly was at work. She came home to see all were healthy and poor Balaka didnt have enough Teets for them all so like from my Diana Litter, I had to Bottle feed them extra after they all had 3 days colustrum milk from Balaka. Again all survived and many received their championships as well as open field and lure coursing titles. Beverly kept the first born male Emir and started to show him but an accident with a car broke his jaw. Beverly was going to put him down and I said NO. I will do what it takes if he was mine so it was my birthday and so I made the flight arrangments for emir to go to Pulman University for surgery. 2 months later he was fine with a bone graft from his sholder blade implanted into his jaw. Once healed, Emir finished fast with a Best of Breed over specials at the Kennel Club of Beverly Hills under the English Judge James Trullenger and then went on to a group 2 becoming Ch.Pavan Ra Emir. His Red Brother Became Ch. Pavan Ra Sarokh and others carried the Pavan Ra in their names. I also Traded one of Emir's puppies for a Saluki female from the author of The Complete Afghan Hound, Ed Gilbert and his wife Trudy who wanted one of Emirs Puppies for his daughter who was newly married- Charlotte & Sam Lovell. I received "Sam-Chars Kansas City Bomber who was a fantastic runner on lure. Later then came the sweet and lovely Srinagar Visalia Shi Ena who was just a lovely off lead companion dog that Dr. Winnifred Lucas of Srinagar Salukis was wanting to place from a girl who was heading off to college back east.
As the next years passed I became the proud parent of a couple of Ibizan Hounds who I showed. My favorite was Am.Can.Int.Ch.Cesares Flying Down to Rio. I also showed Ch. Cesares Flying High Al-Medina- "Dena" who is on the front cover of Ibizan Hound Champions for 2001 to 2006 See Below. But before that in 1993 I discovered the Chinese Crested. The rest is history! First came Nickels who finished fast before he was a year old and then the lady who had Batal Salukis who also had Cresties sent me a Cream Saluki male named Batals Dusty Wind of Mariah- Duster and brought him and 2 Cresty Bitches to be bred to Nickels. Before I bred them I showed them and both did very well with group wins and Breeds.
Since then its been Cresties all the way as when you get older its time to walk instead of run around the ring. My life with dogs has been fantastic. I am also a Automotive Customizer who has created over 44 Customer Owned Multipul Best In Show Winning Vehicles and have also been on The Discovery Channel's "Monster Garage" build team 16- Mobil Wedding Chapel, and won. I use my talents in welding steel by also making Steel Dog Show Trophy Sculptures for All Breeds as well as Horses. Look for the For Sale Items on this site.
